Stupak says if he losses abortion vote he will still vote for health care

October 28th, 2009 · No Comments

Congressman Bart Stupak says that while he is leading the charge to prevent any healthcare reform from using tax payer funds for abortion, if health care reform legislation makes it to the floor of the U.S. Congress and includes funding for abortions, he will support it. In a video featured on the conservative blog RightMichigan.com , Stupak, a Democrat from Menominee, says: “I offered an amendment that says no public funding for abortion that’s been the law of the land for many many

Sometimes I think Randall Terry is Really Working for the Abortion Lobby

October 28th, 2009 · No Comments

His latest stunt is to call for the burning of effigies of Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi on Halloween. He claims this is in the great American tradition. That’s good, because it goes completely against the Christian tradition. Besides, being a Catholic for only five minutes, he clearly would not understand the profound anti-Catholic undertones of burning effigies around this date. Honestly, is Terry really trying to push more and more people into the pro-choice column? It would seem so. And it mak

Nun Volunteering as Abortion Clinic Escort in Illinois

October 28th, 2009 · No Comments

A Dominican nun has been seen frequenting an abortion facility in Illinois recently – but not, as one might expect, to pray for an end to abortion or to counsel women seeking abortions, but to volunteer as a clinic escort. Local pro-life activists say that they recognized the escort at the ACU Health Center as Sr. Donna Quinn, a nun outspokenly in favor of legalized abortion, after seeing her photo in a Chicago Tribune article. “I’ve called her sister several times, and she never responded,”

House Dem: I have 40 votes to kill ObamaCare over abortion

October 28th, 2009 · No Comments

A follow-up and possible explanation to my previous post comes from The Hill, which reports on the way Rep. Bart Stupak (D-MI) has made himself into the fly in the ObamaCare ointment. While Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-NC) tries to whip 218 votes out of the Democratic caucus, Stupak claims to control 40 of those votes, thanks to the federal funding of abortions in the House plan. Stupak now threatens to collaborate with Republicans on a procedural motion that will kill ObamaCare for the session unless

Personhood initiative lining up friends and foes

October 27th, 2009 · No Comments

A version of the anti-abortion initiative soundly defeated by Colorado voters in 2008 is making its way to the 2010 ballot, this time reworked as an “egg-as-a-person” initiative. This new version would move the legal definition of a person further back into the reproductive cycle, granting cells the full spectrum of citizen rights. Opposition groups, including Colorado genetic and fertilization researchers, say the law would have spiraling consequences, that it would put women at risk and fr

‘Law and Order’ Tackles Abortion

October 27th, 2009 · No Comments

NBC’s venerable crime procedural, “Law & Order,” has endured a fair amount of deserved criticism around here lately. Big Hollywood’s thoughtful critiques of the show’s leftward slide and irksome predictability are, sadly, valid. Like many L&O fans, I’ve been forced to admit that recent seasons have been quite disappointing. The word “cancellation” has cropped up in my mind more than once. That being said, this season has been refreshingly solid. Aside from the atrocious “Let’s

Far-Right Activist Launches Nancy Pelosi And Harry Reid ‘Burn In Hell!’ Contest

October 27th, 2009 · No Comments

One of the most notorious far-right activists is Randall Terry, who founded the organization Operation Rescue , a radical anti-choice group. In the past, Terry has warned that he and his followers would engage in terrorism unless Congress excludes funding for abortions in health care legislation, launched a “ Defeat Sotomayor ” campaign that depicted the Supreme Court judge as a skull-faced killer, and used the occasion of the assassination of George Tiller to declare that the doctor, who per

Democrat Rep. Stupak Locked in Dead Heat with House Leadership over Pro-Life Health Amendment

October 26th, 2009 · No Comments

As House Speaker Nancy Pelosi aims to seal the abortion-expanding health care bill in an early November vote, pro-life lawmakers, led by Democratic Rep. Bart Stupak of Michigan, are locked in a dead heat race for votes with Democratic leadership. According to Stupak, the Democratic leadership intends to keep a stranglehold on any pro-life amendment effort, which they acknowledge would likely otherwise succeed. In an interview with LifeSiteNews.com (LSN) today, Rep. Stupak said that he i

“Law & Order” Abortion Episode Outrages Pro-Abortion Groups

October 26th, 2009 · No Comments

Last Friday’s episode of Law & Order on NBC, entitled “Dignity,” has infuriated pro-abortionists while pleasantly surprising pro-lifers with an unexpectedly even-handed treatment of the issue of abortion. Ripping its plot from recent headlines, “Dignity” begins with the murder of late-term abortionist Dr. Walter Benning (Matthew Boston) during a church service. Although the episode has a disclaimer stating that the story is fictional, its initial outline closely matches the case of t
