Ill. Repub. Assembly Endorses Candidate That Quit Weeks Ago

October 27th, 2009 · No Comments

-By Warner Todd Huston The Illinois Republican Assembly proudly announced today, October 27, that it is endorsing DuPage County resident Peter Breen in his race for the Illinois House seat in the 41st District. Great. One problem: Breen quit the race on October 6. The IRA was enthused by Breen’s candidacy because he “has been involved in pro-life issues to enforce the Parental Notice of Abortion Act of 1995.” I was also heartened to hear of Breen’s positions and with his role as the

Personhood initiative lining up friends and foes

October 27th, 2009 · No Comments

A version of the anti-abortion initiative soundly defeated by Colorado voters in 2008 is making its way to the 2010 ballot, this time reworked as an “egg-as-a-person” initiative. This new version would move the legal definition of a person further back into the reproductive cycle, granting cells the full spectrum of citizen rights. Opposition groups, including Colorado genetic and fertilization researchers, say the law would have spiraling consequences, that it would put women at risk and fr

Money for Murderers

October 26th, 2009 · No Comments

Anti-choicers are using eBay to raise money for doctor-killer Scott Roeder , who shot George Tiller while Dr. Tiller attended church. While I don’t object to that in priciple — after all, everyone is entitled to defend themselves in court, and private attorneys are expensive — we aren’t talking about auctioning off that bag of clothes you found in the attic, or your cousin’s collection of shot glasses. No, they’re auctioning off items that have the unique pedigree of being tied to pro-life mur

Peru: The Abortion Debate

October 26th, 2009 · No Comments

The abortion debate in Peru has reemerged due to a bill that has been approved in the Special Committee of the Penal Code in the Peruvian Congress, which would decriminalize abortion in cases of rape or congenital disorders in the fetus. This type of abortion is known as eugenic abortion, as well as therapeutic abortion. The Roman Catholic Church is opposing this measure [es] , and it is also causing divided opinions among the Ministerial Cabinet. However, the debate is far from over, as t

In the NYT’s, the Number One Health Reform Bill Killing Issue Gets One Sentence

October 26th, 2009 · No Comments

The abortion issue, you may recall, was described by George Stephanopoulos as “the gravest threat” to the health reform bill . The largest concentration of Democratic NO votes on health care reform are because of the abortion issue. So, naturally, in an article about Speak Pelosi’s efforts to rally votes for ObamaCare, the New York Times actually talked about other issues besides the public option as critical to passage of the bill. Here is what the New York Times said about abortion ye

Minnesota Star(bursts)

October 24th, 2009 · No Comments

George George Will has a crush : The state senator from her district in suburban Minneapolis-St. Paul had been in office for 17 years, had stopped being pro-life and started supporting tax increases, so that morning Michele Bachmann had skipped washing her hair, put on jeans and a tattered sweatshirt and went to the local Republican nominating caucus to ask the incumbent a few pointed questions. There, on the spur of the moment, some similarly disgruntled conservatives suggested that she un

Here’s one of my favourites – “Pro-Choice” = Euthanasia and / or Abortion (and of course anything opposed to this begins with the negative sounding word – “anti”)By Janet Levy – American ThinkerIn George Orwell’s novel, “1984,” Newspeak refers to language designed by a totalitarian regime to control thought and make subversive speech impossible. It destroyed words with prohibited meanings so that heretical thoughts couldn’t be expressed. A form of censorship, Newspeak employed euphemisms and wor
