Joel S asked:
I did an impromptu road trip through the Midwest this week and I think I saw about two dozen pro-life billboards and road signs, but none that were pro-choice. Anyway, about half of them were in Minnesota. I think I got an entire lesson on fetal development while driving east on US 2 and south on I-35 in the Gopher State. Is Minnesota considered a “swing state” by the pro-life movement? Is that why there are so many billboards?
I’ve lived in southeast Texas for three and a half years and while living there I have *never* seen a pro-life billboard.

Policitally, Minnesota is a divided state. The majority of liberal, pro-choice residents live in a small area in and around the Twin Cities. The less populated rural area is mainly conservative and pro-life. This is why there are so many pro-life billboards in the outstate. Groups, such as the Catholic Knights’ of Columbus are responsible for erecting many of these signs. When the pro-choice residents of the Twin Cities drive out, they are forced to read them, so it’s a good tactic to take!
